Helsinki (1)

Back in late July we spent five days in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. It was a country that we hadn't been to before so it was new for all of us. Finland is part of the European Union so there was no passport control between Germany and Finland and they used Euros as currency there. Like the other Scandinavian countries of Sweden, Norway and Denmark, the Finns are on the whole, tall and blonde people. The national food is the Blueberry, which is sold at the markets by the kilo and they serve Blueberry juice everywhere. The country is incredibly efficient too - the public transport system was a dream and the airport was like an Ikea store. We visited a Finnish sauna and had our first try of electric scooters. We almost bought a reindeer pelt for a floor rug but decided against it in the end. We had a delicious meal of Finland salmon, moose meatballs and potatoes down by the waterside. To end the trip we boarded an overnight ferry to Stockholm (Sweden) where we caught a flight back to Germany.
