Not long after landing in Germany we made our way to the town of Münster near Hamburg where we got to stay in a 18th century mansion and be guests at the wedding of our DFAT colleague Krishan and his beautiful German bride Maike. The couple met in Shanghai and we got to know them when we lived there. The garden wedding was absolutely beautiful and the weather was perfect. It was nice to see Krishan's Sri Lankan family making real efforts to fit into the European style. The couple exchanged some very personal and moving wedding vows. In the weeks before the wedding we were asked by Maike's mother to secretly learn a "flash mob" dance to surprise the newlyweds - another fun element to the wedding.
